Tynemouth is ideally placed for enjoying the North East of England.  The Metro system is a ten minute walk away linking you to Newcastle.  Many of Northumberland's main attractions are within easy driving distance.

 

The Long Sands - the main beach at Tynemouth - is popular with surfers.  King Edward's Bay is a smaller beach set at the foot of the cliffs beneath Tynemouth Priory.

 

Tynemouth Castle and Priory- dating from the 7th century stand above King Edward's Bay offering views out towards the North Pier, over the Village and up river.

 

Tynemouth village is a popular weekend destination for the many cafes, restaurants, shops and bars.  Visit the flea market at Tynemouth Station at the weekends.  The Mouth of The Tyne Festival is held here in July each year - 10 and 11 July for 2010. 

 

Collingwood's Monmument, standing behind the Village on the bank of the Tyne, is dedicated to Lord Collingwood who fired the first shot at the Battle of Trafalgar and took comand of the British fleet after the death of Nelson.
